Hastings welcomes 20 new citizens in April

Hastings will welcome 20 new New Zealanders, at a citizenship ceremony to be held on Wednesday 27 April, from 6pm in the District Council Chamber, Lyndon Road, Hastings.

The candidates’ nationalities are as follows:

British 11
South African 4
British South African 1
Somalian 1
Samoan 1
Canadian 1
German 1

A Kaumatua will welcome those present on behalf of tangata whenua, with entertainment to be provided by the Tuhoe Te Heretaunga kapa haka group.

Hastings District Council Councillors will present each candidate with a kowhai tree to symbolise “putting down roots”.
