Are you a start-up business ready to grow? Planning is vital for any venture, and business.govt.nz has a $60,000 prize package up-for-grabs to give the best business plan a flying start.

Business.govt.nz, in conjunction with ANZ, is today launching the ANZ Flying Start Business Plan competition to seek out the best business plan from new or fledgling New Zealand businesses, and help them put their plans into action.

Business.govt.nz Manager Katie Wellington says judges will be looking for viable business plans that are geared for growth. Prizes including cash, social media and web training and legal advice are available to regional winners, along with the national $60,000 prize package.

“If you want to achieve sustained growth and make a positive contribution to the economy, you’ll need to plan ahead.

“Business planning is like a GPS unit for your car. Skip the dirt roads and traffic jams – a business plan will put you on a smoother, smarter and faster path to growth.”

Business.govt.nz is a government website designed to save small to medium sized businesses time and money by putting the information they need at their fingertips.

“Business.govt.nz is a one-stop shop full of free information, tools and resources for business owners and managers. It will take you through your business lifecycle, from starting up, to managing, to growing your enterprise,” says Ms Wellington

The ANZ Flying Start Business Plan competition is open to all businesses with less than $1 million annual turnover, including those with a business idea they want to get off the ground.
The supreme winner will receive $30,000 for approved growth building opportunities, provided by ANZ, to help their business get lift off, along with $10,000 in website and social media development, $10,000 worth of legal advice, $5,000 in education and training, and $5,000 of advertising and editorial in NZ Business Magazine.

“ANZ understands how important a good business plan is to ensure the success of any enterprise which is why we’re proud to support ANZ Flying Start Business Plan Competition,” says Fred Ohlsson, ANZ New Zealand’s Managing Director, Business Banking.

“Last year ANZ helped more than 4500 people nationwide into their own business and our online business tools and free seminars complements the government‘s website for small businesses,” says Mr Ohlsson.

Regional prizes of $1,000 in cash, $1,000 in web and social media advice, and $1,000 of legal advice are available in the following areas: Northland, Auckland North, Auckland West, Auckland Central, Auckland South, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, East Coast, Hawke’s Bay, Taranaki, Manawatu-Wanganui, Wellington, Nelson-Marlborough, West Coast, Canterbury, Otago and Southland.
