Civil Defence update: Broadlands Road remains closed

Civil Defence are advising all Taupō district residents to remain alert, as strong winds are not expected to ease until at least Sunday.

Broadlands Road will remain closed until the road can be cleared. This is not likely to be before the weekend, but could be as late as next week.

SH5 between Wairakei and Mihi is expected to be open by tonight, but travellers are still advised to seek alternative routes.

Power has been restored to most of the district, but people are advised to stay alert, as more power cuts could happen at anytime.

River Road residents are advised to continue boiling drinking water until further notice.
