Pipi Developments Ltd has had its on licence suspended for 24 hours, after being caught selling alcohol to an underage purchaser.

The company runs the premises known as Pipi Bar in Havelock North and was caught selling alcohol to two 17 year olds, during a controlled purchase operation in February.

The bars licence will be suspended for 24 hours from 4pm on Friday May 13th.

An employee of the company will have his General Managers licence suspended for four weeks from Monday May 9th.

John O'Shaughnessy, Hastings District Council’s Group Manager: Planning and Regulatory Services, said liquor license holders must maintain a high level of accountability when it comes to selling alcohol to young people.

“Most businesses are responsible when it comes to liquor sales but we will continue to apply for license suspensions for those who fail to adequately carry out their duties”
