Bidvest has commenced operating from a new distribution centre in Tauranga allowing them to further enhance the level of service offered to their Tauranga and Coromandel customers.

During the months of May and June customers will start to receive their products from the new business as they are carefully transferred from the Rotorua and Hamilton Bidvest businesses.

Bidvest has been delivering to foodservice outlets in the Tauranga and Coromandel regions successfully for over 20 years.

“We’ve had incredible growth in the Bay region from our Rotorua based DC and our Hamilton business has grown the Coromandel area considerably,” says General Manager Ken Buckthought. “It is a big area and growing quickly, it just makes sense to be here and it will certainly make servicing our customers a lot easier.”

Ken is heading up the new distribution centre after managing the Rotorua business for 21 years.

Based in Tauriko, the new 2,500 pallet state of the art distribution centre has used the latest in supply chain technology and will be home for 14 multi temperature distribution vehicles. Sixty staff will be employed comprising of experienced people transferring from existing Bidvest businesses and new local people.

Ken says, “we have a great team with high energy and a great service ethic.”

On top of the extensive range of frozen, chilled, grocery and non food items, a full range of fresh products will be available from the new branch including fruit, vegetables and meat.

From next year, Bidvest will hold an annual food show in Tauranga so customers can directly talk to suppliers and sample products.
