New roading maintenance contracts awarded

Clutha District Council has awarded new roading maintenance contracts to Fulton Hogan Ltd.

The contracts are for the routine maintenance of the Clutha District’s northern and southern area local roading network over the next three years, including grading, maintenance, metalling, pavement repairs, street cleaning, culvert repairs/replacement, vegetation control, surface water channel cleaning/repairs, traffic counting and operation of the Tuapeka Mouth Ferry.

The contracts were awarded for sums of $6,087,461 and $7,998,563 respectively.

Chief Executive Charles Hakkaart said the combined successful tender price of $14,086,024 was $2.33 million (14.21%) below the Engineer’s Estimate and $490,074 (3.36%) below the allocated budget.

The contracts were advertised during March/April and two tenders were received.

The new contracts take effect on 1 July.
