PwC is continuing to make contributions to the New Zealand regulatory environment
Partners Michele Embling and Karen Shires have been appointed members of the New Zealand Accounting Standards Board (NZASB) and the New Zealand Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (NZAuASB) from 1 July 2011.
Chief Executive Officer Bruce Hassall says “this is a great and well-deserved achievement for our partners Michele and Karen, and a good recognition for our firm’s expertise and thought leadership.”
Auckland Office Managing Partner Michele Embling has been a partner with PwC for six years heading the firm’s technical function. She is currently Deputy Chair of the Accounting Standards Review Board, and in addition to being the NZASB Chair, Michele will also be a member of the External Reporting Board for a
three-year term.
Michele says “I’m very proud to be the NZASB Chair as I can see the opportunities we can bring to making financial reporting more relevant. It is an exciting challenge and I look forward to making a difference for the benefit of all.”
Partner Karen Shires has been a partner with PwC for eight years and is a lead Assurance Partner in the PwC Wellington office overseeing the provision of assurance services to entities of all sizes and sectors.
Karen adds “it’s a good opportunity to be involved in such an important board. The establishment of the NZAuASB brings us into line with global best practice and will assist in building confidence in our capital markets.”
