The government’s budget will do nothing to alleviate the economic
crisis and associated poverty, according to the Aotearoa Legalise
Cannabis Party (ALCP).

Deputy leader Michael Britnell said billions would be added to economy
each year by adopting ALCP policy.

With this budget we see the mistakes of the past repeated.

“Selling off strategic assets to try and reduce debt has failed in the
past and will not stop-the-rot in the future,” Mr Britnell said.

Both National and Labour have tried everything they can think of – yet
not one has come up with a clear plan to stop runaway debt which is out
of control.

The ALCP continue to promote a multi-billion dollar budget plan for
Aotearoa.

1. Stop criminalizing kiwis for cannabis – Will save half billion
dollars per annum.

2. Development of Cannabis Industry:

(a) Medicinal Cannabis – Horticulturalist Mike Nicholls – Massy
University – reports 19th April to TV1 that the medicinal cannabis
industry is worth Billions to N.Z.

(b) R.18 Recreational Cannabis Industry worth 1 billion per annum
(400,000 cannabis consumers spend average $40.00 per week)

(c) Sustainable fast growing Hemp Industry which gives us all the
basics of life: Clean burning Fuel, Fibre (cloths and building) and
highest quality Food. These are all industries in their own right worth
billions per annum.

Cannabis prohibition is a failure and a huge expense for the taxpayer
yet the government refuses to cut spending in this area.

The only thing the “fools” can think of after selling the ‘family
silver’ is to cut down their contribution to Kiwi Saver.

“Wow like that really inspires confidence in the government’s ability
to keep to its policy promises,” Mr Britnell said.

“Why should we believe their crystal-ball predictions for the future –
that debt will be reduced by their plans - when they are continuously
changing their policy?”

The time has come for the truth to inspire the confidence of the
people.

The ALCP are the only party able to bring more money to the table
rather than redistributing existing revenue.

“The development of the cannabis industry would be a life line to
assist our ailing economy,” Mr Britnell said.
