Dr. Pamela Stephenson Connolly Talks Up Sex at Dunedin Public Libraries
Dunedin City Library is buzzing with the announcement of their newest visiting international author – Dr. Pamela Stephenson Connolly, who will be talking about her latest book Sex Life, to an audience on Wednesday 15 June from 5.30pm.
For some, Pamela is best known as the wife and biographer of popular Scottish comedian Billy Connolly, who last visited Dunedin on his sell-out 2009 tour, but Pamela’s professional career as a comedienne and sex therapist means she’s no shrinking violet when it comes to talking about her own successes.
Her latest book Sex Life, is a confident and informative ‘cradle-to-grave’ exploration of healthy attitudes to sex, and how sex can evolve as we ourselves grow and mature. Crammed with anecdotal examples that help to keep the topic open and comfortable to read, Connolly imparts her own wisdom to highlight key issues, or offer advice. The book flows easily and can be addictive reading. It is hilarious, eye-opening, informative, reassuring and most importantly – human. The curiosity and questions that we may all have from time to time are answered without embarrassment by sharing the experiences of a diverse range of people, who contributed to her research.
Her experience as an entertainer means there will be little room for the kind of uncomfortable conversations that often occur with such private and sensitive subject matter. Connolly even goes so far as to suggest there may be some juicy gossip to share from her better known clients!
The talk is expected to sell-out fast, and people are encouraged to book as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Those who do can submit an anonymous question prior to the start of the talk and copies of her book will be signed at the end of the evening.
