The Southern Hemisphere’s biggest winter party is about to get sexy with a little inspiration from Hollywood’s latest smash hit musical, Burlesque.

High heels, high kicks and saucy hint of humour continue the theme for the “unmissable” Deutz Masquerade Ball on Saturday 25 June at the American Express Queenstown Winter Festival (June 24- 3 July) which features live on- stage performances from Diamond Dance, Pop Force and HITMEN.

Hosted at the American Express Ice Box at Queenstown Memorial Hall, the downtown venue is set to be transformed into a glittering, glamorous boudoir for the evening.

Festival Director Simon Green said the box office musical Burlesque, which hit cinemas globally earlier this year, was a perfect theme for the programme’s popular dress up night.

“The Masquerade Ball is Queenstown’s annual glamorous winter event and the movie certainly brings Burlesque fun back into focus. The movie provides plenty of inspiration for this very special night in Queenstown. The Ball gives locals and festival-goers the chance to get dressed up in their finest, don a seductive mask and a few feathers and enjoy a lavish night out,” he said.

Tickets for the Deutz Masquerade Ball include a delicious three-course dinner and table seating where spectators can watch the evening’s entertainment unfold onstage. ‘

The American Express Queenstown Winter Festival runs from June 24 – 3 July. To view the full programme go to www.winterfestival.co.nz or pick up a programme at information outlets throughout the region.

Tickets for Festival events can be bought from TicketDirect online at www.ticketdirect.co.nz, by phone 0800 224 224 (03 450 9110), or in person at the Queenstown Events Centre or Queenstown i-Site (corner of Shotover and Camp streets)*.
