CTC Aviation Training (NZ) Limited, the global leader in airline pilot training, is holding an open day at its state-of-the-art Crew Training Centre in Hamilton on 18 June.

Instructors and staff will be on hand to answer questions about training for a career as an airline pilot, commercial pilot’s license requirements, diplomas in aviation science and much more.

There will also be presentations at 11am and 1pm by a senior member of the CTC team, giving an overview about training in New Zealand and the global commercial airline industry. There will be prize draws for presentation attendees to win a flight in a DA42 aircraft.

Ian Calvert, CTC Aviation Training (NZ) Limited CEO, says one of the company’s main recruiting focuses this year is for people looking to take up the Jetstar Ab-Initio Cadet Programme which is intended for candidates with limited or no previous flying experience. “One year on since we began training pilots for Jetstar, the first CTC graduates are now flying with the airline in Australia.”

A Jetstar representative will be on hand at the CTC open day to answer questions about its training programmes and employment opportunities with the airline.

CTC open day visitors will get up close with the company’s G1000 (glass cockpit) aircraft, including the Diamond DA42 and Cessna 172, as well as the Diamond DA20 Katana.

Potential trainees will also get the opportunity to see the centre’s leading-edge flight simulators in action. Tours of the facilities, talks with CTC’s team captains, flight instructors and cadets will be held throughout the day as well.

“The benefit of training with CTC lies in our reputation as an organisation that works with our graduates to help them gain positions as airline pilots,” says Mr Calvert. He went on to explain that CTC’s partnerships with major airlines like Jetstar in Australia/New Zealand and easyJet in the UK are the key to CTC achieving our goal of securing first officer roles for 100% of trainees after graduation.

In addition to the Jetstar training programmes, the open day event will provide information on other CTC training programmes. Everything from the CTC Wings International Pilot Programme - for students with little to no flying experience - to the Instructional Techniques Course - for the qualified pilot wishing to become an instructor - will be covered.

“For aspiring pilots wanting the opportunity to research their flight training options,” said Mr Calvert. “This is an event not to be missed.”

CTC’s 19,000sq ft, purpose-built Crew Training Centre is based at Hamilton Airport and adjacent to the main runway. The facility houses several flight simulators, briefing rooms, lecture rooms, planning and operation facilities.
