Extra Month of Outdoor Swimming at Jellie Park

Mild weather and appreciative swimmers mean Jellie Park’s 50 metre heated outdoor pool will remain open for a month longer than expected.

"Since the earthquake there’s been a big increase in the number of people using Jellie Park,” says Christchurch City Council’s Recreation and Sport Manager John Filsell.

“Originally we extended the outdoor pool’s summer season for 10 weeks, up to next Tuesday. Positive feedback from swimmers, combined with the mild weather we’ve been enjoying, means we’ve now decided to further extend the outdoor swimming season until Friday 15 July.”

New opening hours for the outdoor pool will be Monday to Friday 5:30am - 7pm; Saturdays and Sundays 7am - 7pm.
