Decorative bunting displaying the flags of all 20 nations competing in Rugby World Cup 2011 is now available to purchase, and is an easy and inexpensive way for communities, businesses and schools to show their support for the largest sporting event in our nation’s history.

Council’s RWC 2011 Project Manager Karen Balasoglou says hanging flag bunting is a fun way for anyone to get into the RWC 2011 spirit. “RWC 2011 is a great excuse for New Zealand communities to get into party mode. The bunting is colourful, and an easy way to decorate your street, workplace, club or school to show your support. And with less than 100 days to go, now is the time to be thinking about what you can do to get behind the Tournament. What a great way to welcome our host nations.”

There are three versions of the bunting available. One has all 20 of the RWC 2011 national flags for $11.95 per 10 metre unit including the NZ 2011 Fern logo, the same version but without the Fern logo for use in situations where there could be sponsorship conflict e.g. bars, restaurants, or the version with only one nation’s flag for $21.95 per 10 metre unit. “The single country flag option is great if you chose to adopt a second team,” says Ms Balasoglou,

RWC 2011 is the third largest sports event in the world, behind the Football World Cup and the Olympics. Taupō is hosting three teams during part of the Tournament; South Africa, Wales and Ireland. The teams will be training at local facilities Owen Delany Park, the AC Baths and Taupō Events Centre.
