Power outage in eastern Christchurch

Power was cut to approximately 56,000 customers in Christchurch (just over 25% of our customers) following the 6.0 magnitude earthquake at 2.20pm. Areas affected include Spreydon, Sumner, Redcliffs, Heathcote, New Brighton, Dallington, Fendalton and St Albans.

Our teams are working to restore power as soon as possible, however access to some areas is difficult due to heavy traffic on the roads.
