National Fieldays on track to visitor expectation

New Zealand National Agricultural Fieldays saw 36,439 through the gate to check out the country’s biggest farming exhibition. Total attendance on day three of the four day event was up on 2010, reflecting the stability of the event as farmers head to Fieldays habitually to view the latest in the agriculture sector.

Lloyd Downing, the President of the New Zealand National Fieldays Society explains that having record breaking visitor numbers is not the priority of Fieldays, “Our aim at Fieldays is to add value to our exhibitors and visitors. By attracting quality customers who are prepared to spend, we are achieving our goal of being the most productive agribusiness event in New Zealand.”

Today was a lucky day for North Shore resident Rob Clow who walked away from Fieldays with two Suzuki Quad Bikes. By purchasing his tickets online Rob was automatically placed in to the draw. He was extremely excited about his win, thanking Suzuki and the Fieldays team for the great prizes up for grabs as he and his grandson will enjoy the Suzuki quad bikes.

The New Zealand Young Farmers were also victorious at Fieldays by winning the Jubilee Award in the Best Site competition. The award is given to an exhibitor who enhances the spirit of the event; the Fieldays Society acknowledged the support from Young Farmers is essential to the future of Fieldays. Other best site awards went to Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, AgResearch, Gallagher Animal Management and Honda Motorcycles New Zealand.

New Zealand National Agricultural Fieldays at Mystery Creek Events Centre closes at 5pm tomorrow, Saturday 18 June.
