Softsource opens Entrada Data Centre – New Zealand's most advanced data centre facility

IT solutions specialist Softsource today officially opened its new Entrada Data Centre, giving New Zealand businesses access to the some of the most advanced technologies in the world.
The Entrada Data Centre, located in Albany on Auckland’s North Shore, demonstrates the investment that a locally owned and operated New Zealand business are making in Infrastructure–as-a-Service (IaaS) technology.
It is the first fully operational data centre in New Zealand to offer end-to-end HP Converged Infrastructure. It is also the first data centre in the Asia Pacific region to implement HP’s new 3PAR storage technology, since HP completed its acquisition of 3PAR earlier this year.
Softsource General Manager Pablo Garcia-Curtis says the new facility will provide an opportunity for local businesses to utilise a world-class resource.
“Cloud services are changing the face of the technology landscape. By providing companies with the opportunity to utilise our Infrastructure as a Service capabilities through the Entrada Data Centre, New Zealand organisations are now able to dynamically provision virtual resources from a remote location within minutes and be operational immediately.

Softsource believe the focus they have on providing Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) through the data centre will free up clients to focus on their core business instead of their IT.

Clients of Softsource’s new Entrada Data Centre will have access to a portal, which will allow users to log on remotely and immediately configure their hardware requirements within minutes, with the ability to then be operational almost immediately.
Using this portal, clients can boost their processing power as needed, for example at the end of the financial year, without needing to invest in new hardware which will sit, unused, over the following months.
“Thanks to the flexibility HP’s Converged Infrastructure provides our data centre, we can support our clients who encounter unforeseen circumstances to quickly and easily adapt and continue operating at a low cost,” said Garcia-Curtis.
The Entrada Data Centre also incorporates a range of green technologies, including highly efficient cooling systems using heat exchangers and water-cooling. It is estimated these environmental initiatives will deliver a 20 - 30 percent reduction in power consumption compared to other facilities, and create a cost advantage for Softsource that will ultimately be passed on to its customers.
Foundation customers at the Entrada Data Centre include Dominion Breweries, Genesis Energy; Navico; Ngati Whatua O Orakei Corporate Ltd; Specsavers and Advanced Eco Solutions.
