The Invercargill City Council’s contractor Bond Contracts Ltd will be collecting all old green wheelie bins next week after people’s rubbish is collected.

Invercargill City Council Waste Minimisation Senior Officer Donna Peterson said the old wheelie bins, which were owned by the contractor, were being collected because Council’s new recycling and rubbish collection service was starting in the week beginning 4 July 2011.

“If your green wheelie bin is not picked up next week please put it out empty the following week to be picked up.

“After this time you can return the old green wheelie bin to the Invercargill Transfer Station, 303 Bond Street, during opening hours which are Monday to Saturday 8.30 am to 5.30 pm and Sunday 9.00 am to 5.30 pm,” Ms Peterson said.

Ms Peterson urged residents to please read the information that came with the new bins on how to use the service and to check the collection calendar which tells residents when to put out their yellow recycling bin.

Ms Peterson said residents were invited to keep their old recycling crate to use for other purposes around the home.

However if they do not want to keep it, they are welcome to return it to the Invercargill Transfer Station, 303 Bond Street, during opening hours as above.
