The development of the commercial property area in Christchurch known as Dakota Park is forging ahead with the securing of two further international companies.

“We’re delighted to announce that construction of commercial facilities for both Hewlett Packard and Landpower will begin in Dakota Park,” said Christchurch International Airport Limited (CIAL) General Manager Property & Commercial, Blair Forgie.

“CIAL is focused on building business and tourism for Christchurch, and the addition of these two companies in our logistics and distribution precinct is great news for the city,” said Blair Forgie. “Our vision is to attract more businesses to the area in order to diversify the airport’s portfolio and strengthen the regional economy. At Dakota Park they have the ability to custom-build facilities that suit their businesses perfectly. They also have the advantages of being close to the airport, next to State Highway 1, and only 20 minutes from the port of Lyttelton.”

Dakota Park consists of 80 hectares of land owned by CIAL. The airport company has been developing the site infrastructure over the last year, with wide roading networks designed for large-scale truck movements, state-of–the-art telecommunications fibre distribution technology and independent water and sewer works.

“This is an exciting development and a notable step in the economic regeneration of the city,” explained Blair Forgie.

There are still many sites available in Dakota Park, and the CIAL property team is in negotiations with other companies to build in this area.
