The nationwide ‘Be. On the Road’ roadshow will be in Rotorua on Wednesday this week and locals are being invited to join in helping to create a 100% accessible society for everyone, including those in wheelchairs or on crutches, those who use a guide dog or require hearing support.

The visiting roadshow team, including a sign language interpreter, will be at the Rotorua District Council Civic Centre on Wednesday (29 June) from 10am to 12pm, with an interactive presentation.

The ‘Be. Accessible’ story will introduce key locations to be assessed for accessibility in the lead up to Rugby World Cup 2011 and invites participants to contribute towards the accessibility journey in Rotorua through a fun initiative organisers have planned.

As preparation attendees should start thinking of all the possibilities for making Rotorua a more accessible city, and share these ideas at the event.

Specifically, there are three questions the team wants to discuss:

What will a fully accessible Rotorua Be. like?
What accessibility initiatives are you and your community doing right now?
What are the key opportunities for accessibility in Rotorua?
