A new bus timetable arrives in Dunedin letterboxes from Wednesday (July 6).

Otago Regional Council (ORC) director policy and resource planning Fraser McRae said new features include the fitting of bike racks (for two cycles) on buses on the Lookout Point, Opoho, Pine Hill, Shiel Hill, and Concord University weekday daytime routes.

Ritchies Transport has taken over weekday services on the Lookout Point, Opoho, Pine Hill and Shiel Hill routes, while the Concord-Kaikorai Valley-University service has Mosgiel Coach Services as its new operator.

This Concord-Kaikorai Valley-University service has been extended, and now travels via Emerson and Mulford Streets, and Stevenson Road to the terminus outside the Concord bottle store. Two new bus stops in Mulford Street have been added to the service.

Meanwhile, the 6.30am inward weekday service from Opoho and its continuation to Shiel Hill at 6.45am, and the 6.30am inward weekday Concord-Kaikorai Valley-University service have been cancelled due to a lack of patronage.

Around 46,000 bus timetables are being delivered to all homes in the greater Dunedin area. In addition, nearly 3,000 rural delivery addresses, and coastal homes as far north as Palmerston will get a copy.

Residents who haven’t received a new timetable by Wednesday 13 July should contact the bus call centre on 03 474 0287 and request a copy, or download one from the ORC website www.orc.govt.nz, Mr McRae said.
