Mayor Roly Ellis was delighted to report that the Weber Community fund raising evening for the Mayoral Christchurch Relief Fund raised a whopping $1,600.

Fiona Prouting and her dedicated Weber Community Group organised a "knees up" event with some great entertainment and good country food to raise money to support the Mayoral fund. Roly Ellis became aware through Don Nicolson of Federated Farmers, that Swannanoa School, Waimakariri district of the North Canterbury region, were welcoming 400 students from Aranui School in Christchurch, to attend an orientated farm pet day in October. The money raised by the Weber Community was given to the Mayoral Fund and will be forwarded to Swannanoa School to make the day memorable for those children affected by the earthquake.

Farm Day is about enabling folk who live in our towns and cities to experience first-hand the animals, crops and other features that are part of New Zealand's primary economy. The opportunity to visit a farm is part fun, part educational and 100 percent based on the New Zealand Farm system.

Mayor Ellis would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and publicly thank the Weber Community for their initiative and contribution to a very worthy cause.
