Day one singles match two Michael Venus vs. Cecil Mamiit.
Davis Cup Asia/Oceania zone group1In a very even match up Cecil Mamiit took out the first set 7-6 in a tie break
Michael Venus came back in the second set again with a tie break to take out the set 6-7.
The third set was a little easier for Venus as Mamiit seemed to tire taking it out 6-3.
In the fourth Mamiit got what seemed to be a second wind to take out the set 6-4.
Set five saw Micheal Venus take control of a tiring Cecil Mamiit and take out the set and match 6-3.
This gives New Zealand a great star to lead the Tie two games to nil
