Napier will host twelve teams in the Lion Foundation NZ Secondary Schools Netball Championships this week, with competition starting tomorrow.

A number of players representing their schools also played the recent Scottwood Trust Netball Champs, including four players named in the 2007/8 NZU21 Squad on Saturday. The NZU21 players are Alanah Cassidy (TCS Tu Toa), Ellen Halpenny (Villa Maria College), Jaimee Power (Marlborough Girls’ College) and Te Huinga Reo Selby-Rickit (Verdon College).

The schools qualified at three regional tournaments in August, with the top four teams from the Upper North Island, Lower North Island and South Island tournaments progressing to the national tournament.
