Picton people who don’t like to drive into Blenheim now have the option of catching a bus, timetabled to allow shopping, movies or hospital appointments.

The public bus service runs between Blenheim and Picton twice daily every weekday, leaving Blenheim in time to deliver a group of secondary school pupils to Queen Charlotte College with a return journey each afternoon. The bus also takes any adults on request. The fare is $10 one way or $15 return.

There are several designated stops around Picton and Waikawa and the driver is able to arrange convenient pick-up and set-down stops for older passengers.

A holiday timetable applies from now until the end of July, with the bus leaving Blenheim at 8.30 am, and the return journey leaving its last pick-up point in Picton at 9.15 am.

In the afternoon, the bus leaves Blenheim by 3.30 pm and makes the return journey, leaving Picton by 4.15 pm.

In term time, the bus leaves Blenheim in time to reach Picton’s High Street by 8.50 am. The return journey gets people to Blenheim by about 9.30 am with drop-offs at requested points, including Wairau Hospital.

The afternoon return bus to Picton completes any pick-ups around Blenheim between 2.00 pm and 2.20 pm and the bus returns again to Blenheim by 3.45 pm.

Call bus driver Graham Lindsay, Ph: 0800 254 654 any time to arrange pick up.
