Fairfax Media launches Auckland news, sport & entertainment site.
A dedicated Auckland news, sport and entertainment website has been launched by New Zealand’s largest integrated media company, Fairfax Media.
www.aucklandnow.co.nz is about Auckland, for Aucklanders.
The new site, which replaces the Auckland section within www.stuff.co.nz, covers Auckland's ‘what, when and where’ and is jam packed with quality news and sports coverage, as well as a detailed entertainment and events section for the City of Sails.
Fairfax Media CEO Allen Williams says Auckland Now represents the perfect vehicle through which the strength of Fairfax’s Auckland-based editorial staff and the company’s Auckland suburban newspapers can be harnessed and leveraged.
“We are without peer in the Auckland market in terms of having the largest network of editorial staff to provide high quality content for the Auckland Now web site audience,” Mr Williams said.
“This latest offering enhances our ever-expanding digital portfolio of websites, apps, tablet and digital TV, which aligns with our iconic newspaper mastheads and national magazine brands that reach more than 85% of New Zealanders,” he said.
“The launch of Auckland Now is yet another example of our unique use of cross-platform integration of our news, sport and entertainment content.”
The Auckland Now editorial team will be led by senior Fairfax Media editor Miriyana Alexander, who’ll be at the helm of a talented and dedicated online team comprising reporters, photographers and videographers.
Fairfax’s Auckland General Manager Mitchell Murphy, the Publisher of Auckland Now, added: “We’ve done extensive research to gauge what Aucklanders want and we’ll always look to be innovative with our content offerings through Auckland Now,” Mr Murphy said.
