NEW PLYMOUTH

Preparations to repair tornado damage to Placemakers’ building has seen part of the top route of the Coastal Walkway closed to pedestrians for a few days.

Scaffolding is being erected on the section of walkway which runs in front of Placemakers from Pari St, at the top of the Woolcombe Tce cliff.

Manager Parks Mark Bruhn says the walkway will be closed for two or three days from today (WEDNESDAY).

“The scaffolding itself will stay there while the building repairs take place, which are likely to continue through to the end of February next year,” says Mr Bruhn.

“However the public will be able to use this walkway connection after the scaffolding is all in place – which, weather permitting, will be prior to the start of the weekend.”
