The NZ Transport Agency advises that there will be lane changes in place on Hobsonville Road Bridge in West Auckland from this Thursday morning (4 August).

Contractors will move the lanes from their existing position into the final permanent layout across the bridge. Two lanes will be operating from Westgate to access the citybound on-ramp to the Northwestern Motorway (SH16).

State Highways Manager Tommy Parker says that the work - which will take place overnight on Wednesday 3 August - is an important step in preparation for further changes associated with the opening of the new Hobsonville motorway.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this work may cause, but by completing the lane changes earlier in the week, we will be in a better position to have the motorway open to traffic on Sunday morning”

The NZTA advises motorists to drive with care as they get used to the new layout on the bridge.
“We also want to warn motorists that delays are expected at Westgate during the morning peak from Monday 8 August, when further traffic changes will be in place. Please plan ahead and allow plenty of time to get to your destination on time and safely,” says Mr Parker.

The new SH18 Hobsonville motorway is a six kilometre, four-lane motorway between Upper Harbour Bridge in the east and Westgate in the west; and a three kilometre extension of the Northwestern Motorway (SH16) from Westgate to a new roundabout at Brigham Creek Road.

In the event of wet weather, the work will take place on the next fine night. For more information visit www.nzta.govt.nz/hobsonville or call 0800 520 202.
