SsangYong had its biggest manufacturing quarter in the second quarter of 2011, a growth of 45% over the corresponding period in 2010 and the highest quarterly sales volume achieved since the third quarter of 2007. This coincides with SsangYong NZ’s biggest month ever for sales in June 2011 with nearly 70 vehicles sold nationwide.

SsangYong NZ General Manager Deon Cooper says this is a great sign for the SsangYong Brand globally. “It demonstrates that SsangYong is moving ahead successfully under its new ownership and it means SsangYong NZ can get on with our plan of providing quality and affordable SUV’s and Utes to New Zealanders.”

Over the past few months, SsangYong has been introducing the Automatic Korando to the New Zealand market – a stylish, sophisticated and practical SUV with an affordable price point at $34,990. “We are finding the Korando is selling itself – it is an efficient, nice looking all-round vehicle, perfect for the kiwi lifestyle,” he said.

Towards the end of 2011 / early 2012, SsangYong NZ will be introducing a new, durable Ute to the market. “We are very excited about the new SsangYong Ute,” said Mr Cooper. “Watch this space.”

In the past few months, SSangYong NZ has grown its nationwide Dealership Network with Rotorua SsangYong and Baywater Vehicles, Hawkes Bay joining the experienced team of Dealers.
SsangYong NZ has also taken on a three year sponsorship with the Contact Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge.
