Stock Crossings Code of Practice draft for consultation

Consultation on the Draft Code of Practice for Stock Crossings opens tomorrow Friday 12 August 2011.

The Draft Code of Practice clarifies the “trigger points” when a stock crossing is required and the possible support available to farmers. Council is keen for the community views on this document and hope it will provide greater certainty to the requirements and process involved in complying with the Roading Bylaw.

A copy of the Draft Code of Practice, Statement of Proposal and submissions forms are available at Council offices in Oamaru and Palmerston and at libraries in Hampden, Kurow, Omarama and Otematata during ordinary office hours. Further details and an online submission form are also available on the website www.waitaki.govt.nz under “Consultation Issues”.

You can let Council know your views on the proposal by post to Waitaki District Council Private Bag 50058, Oamaru 9444, by email to Shirley Crawford: scrawford@waitaki.govt.nz, or via the online form. Submissions open on Friday 12 August and close on Monday 12 September 2011. Submitters have the options of making their submissions orally which will be heard by Council on 20 September.
