Time and Tree Trust wait for no one

Time is running out for those wanting to seek Taranaki Tree Trust assistance with planting projects.

Applications close on 1 September for a share of $20,000 of Trust funds earmarked for supporting projects in the region which protect and restore wetlands, remnant areas of bush, the coast, and wildlife habitat. The Trust is also keen to support projects which enhance community areas such as marae, schools, and reserves.

The main component of the project must be planting, but the Trust can also assist with fencing.

“We’ve had a number of applications but can still take more before the closing date of 1 September,” says the Trust Chairman, Michael Joyce. “Applicants should note that the application form needs to be completed in full.”

Grants of between $300 and $5,000 will be made. The Trust will contribute up to 75% of the total cost of a school or community group project, and up to 50% for a project on private land. The total cost includes cash, and the dollar value of any ‘in kind’ contributions such as labour. Successful applicants have up to two years to use the funds.
