Queenstown will be hosting the Irish, English, Romanian and Georgian teams during RWC 2011. The teams will be in town to train during September, but have now confirmed public community engagement opportunities, RWC 2011 coordinator Jono Sutherland confirmed.

“We are delighted that at this stage all our teams have agreed to set aside time for our community. Every single school aged child in the Lakes District will have an opportunity to meet a RWC 2011 player, that’s not only fantastic but incredibly generous,” Mr Sutherland said.

Given the focus is on training for the RWC 2011, community engagement opportunities were fluid and could be subject to change or cancellation.

“The intention is to make these opportunities available but on the basis that things can change at short notice, depending on potential changes to each team’s training schedules while they are in Queenstown,” he said.

In addition to the opportunities listed below both the Georgian and Irish teams would receive a Civic Welcome, hosted by Mayor Vanessa van Uden and attended by 60 members of the community selected by ballot.
