New Orion substation in eastern Christchurch restores stable power supply to 20,000 customers

CHRISTCHURCH

  • The Hon Gerry Brownlee, Minister for Canterbury Earthquake Recovery will open the new Orion substation in Rawhiti Domain, and

 

  • Orion Chief Executive Officer Rob Jamieson will provide a short briefing on earthquake recovery work.

 

The completion of the new substation, needed to replace the Pages Road substation which sank two metres into the ground in February, is a significant milestone in Orion’s earthquake recovery programme and will provide capacity for residents in the eastern suburbs to use power at pre-quake levels.

Where:  Keyes Road substation in Rawhiti Domain, for the official opening followed by a briefing at Rawhiti Golf Club, 100 Shaw Avenue, New Brighton
