The Christchurch City Council is proud to announce a significant partnership with Egmont Seed Company, New Zealand’s largest flower seed company, who have signed on as Ellerslie International Flower Show’s title sponsor.

Mayor Bob Parker was delighted to make the announcement at a public launch in the Events Village at North Hagley Park this morning and says this new partnership is a huge step in the right direction for the future of the Show.

“Following the cancellation of this year’s Show due to the February 22 earthquake, we’ve recently announced the dates for next year’s Show and now with a wonderful new sponsor onboard, the future of the Ellerslie International Flower Show is looking very bright.

“We are delighted to be involved with a company that is dedicated to bringing more flowers to the show, the city and to people’s lives. The fact that they are making such a substantial commitment over a number of years illustrates their passion for the future of the event and the horticultural industry.”

John McCullough, General Manager of Egmont Seed Co, says he is thrilled to be strategically aligned with Ellerslie, an event with aspirations that reflect those of their company.

“We’re passionate about flowers and we want to encourage more people in Christchurch to enhance the Garden City. The event is a showcase for all things gardening and we are looking forward to providing attendees with inspiration and even more value when they step through the gates.

“Our relationship with the Show’s organisers has already got off to a great start and we’re confident that our presence will make next year’s event even more colourful.”

Based in New Plymouth, Egmont Seed Co is a family business that has grown into a leading and well-respected player in the horticultural industry.

The next Ellerslie International Flower Show, presented by Egmont, will be staged in North Hagley Park from 7-11 March 2012. All of the Show’s previous sponsors will be returning in 2012.

“Events such as Ellerslie are important to the rebuild of Christchurch and are a key way for residents to get back to a sense of normality. This is particularly true for Ellerslie, which further defines Christchurch as the Garden City,” says Mr Parker.
