Fox HANZ Finalist

Heartland Hotel Fox Glacier is delighted to be a finalist in the Best New / Redeveloped Accommodation Hotel section of the Hospitality Association of NZ National Awards for Excellence.

Scenic Hotel Group purchased the iconic Fox Glacier property in August 2008. Built in 1928, the hotel needed comprehensive structural repairs and restoration. West Coast Area Manager Richard de Graaf says a 12-month renovation and refurbishment schedule brought the property up to the three-star plus standard of a Heartland Hotel. “The original style and character of the property has been maintained but we’ve injected those small touches of luxury you expect of a modern hotel. Scenic Hotel Group has a commitment to using local contractors and suppliers wherever possible, so it’s been a real local team effort.”

The hotel now incorporates the original hostel, the Climbers Rest Backpacker accommodation, the Mountain Goat café and the Climbers Rest Bar. A central hub of entertainment and accommodation for visitors and locals alike, the Heartland Hotel Fox Glacier is once again a grand lady of the Coast.
