Temporary Liquor Ban - 27th September 2011
The Napier City Public Places Liquor Control Bylaw 2004
Prohibits the consumption, bringing in and possession of intoxicating liquor from 1.00pm to 11:30pm on Tuesday 27 September 2011 in the following public places:
- Latham Street - from Vigor Brown Street to Morris Street
- Morris Street - from Latham Street to Nelson Crescent
- McVay Street - full length
- Vigor Brown Street - from McVay Street to Latham Street
It is an off ence to consume, bring in or be in possession of any intoxicating liquor in the public places subject of the prohibition from:
1.00pm to 11:30pm TUESDAY 27 SEPTEMBER 2011 For Rugby Match
During the prohibition the Police may, pursuant to sec. 169(2) of the Local Government Act 2002, without a warrant search any vehicle or container, and seize and remove any liquor and arrest any off ender. Before exercising this power of search, a member of the Police must:
(a) Inform the person in possession of the vehicle or container that he or she has the opportunity of removing the vehicle or container from the Public Place; and
(b) Provide the person with a reasonable opportunity to do so.
THE MAXIMUM FINE UPON CONVICTION OF ANY OFFENCE AGAINST THIS BYLAW IS $20,000
