All Blacks see black during underground adventure tour

All Blacks Conrad Smith, Corey Flynn, Adam Thomson and Anthony Boric took time out to explore the dark depths of Ruakuri Cave during their time in Waitomo today.

The teammates kept the adrenaline pumping in between games as they embarked on the Black Labyrinth subterranean adventure with the team from The Legendary Black Water Rafting Co.

The Black Labyrinth tour and the cave is one of two tours operated by The Legendary Black Water Rafting Co., which was recently voted by TripAdvisor as one of the world’s 10 top adventure tours. During the tour, the players climbed and tubed along a winding underground river surrounded by cascading waterfalls and glowworm studded ceilings.

“Awesome day out,” says Adam Thomson. “Love the mini eel through the love tunnel. Even forced a smile out of Anthony ‘Caving Grinch’ Boric!”

Anthony’s response: “Was a bit apprehensive about the whole idea. Didn’t know what to expect but thoroughly enjoyed it. Chickened out of the laundry chute but think it was a wise idea because I would have gotten stuck. All in all had a great time and will recommend it.”

“A great day out, loved it. Two thumbs up!” says Conrad Smith.

Corey says it was an “outstanding couple of hours. Will bring my kids when they are old enough.”

Conrad Smith (Hurricanes), Corey (Crusaders), Adam (Otago), and Anthony (Blues), spent nearly three hours on their tour. Their next international game is on the 16 September in Hamilton.
