Southee wins international performance of year award
New Zealand swing bowler and SKINS sponsored cricketer Tim Southee won the Twenty20 international performance of the year award at the International Cricket Council awards in London this week.
Southee's Boxing Day effort last year of five for 18 from four over’s, including a maiden, in a Twenty20 match against Pakistan in Auckland was voted by a 25-person panel to be the most impressive individual performance of the year.
Southee was unable to attend the awards but upon hearing the news said: ''Looking at the nominees, it's a great achievement to have even been nominated and to win it is something I will never forget.”
Brandex Adventure Sports, which imports SKINS, Outdoor Director David Watt said it was an outstanding achievement for Southee, who the company signed as a sponsored athlete in early 2009.
“When we started working with Tim we thought he had great potential, and we were excited to have him working with our product range,”
“Tim is a hard worker who is starting to see the results of the efforts he puts into his game.”
