Romania need to play with passion and commitment for the full 80 minutes if they are to test England at Otago Stadium on Saturday, according to coach Romeo Gontineac.

Gontineac said his players needed to step up for the Pool B match against an England team scolded by manager Martin Johnson for failing to play decent rugby in their two error-ridden matches.

“We played excellently in parts against Scotland but we need to play with more vigour, more commitment and understand that they have to pace themselves for 80 minutes," Gontineac said.

“We are not used to this level of game. Against Scotland, as we played better, we gained more confidence.

“We played a very good second half but we only played 50 minutes with confidence."
