WHANGAREI

Japan centre Koji Taira on Wednesday pulled out of Rugby World Cup 2011 after suffering a left hamstring injury.

No replacement for Taira, who started in Japan's first two Pool A losses against France and New Zealand, was immediately called for by the Japan Rugby Football Union.

Taira is the fifth injury withdrawal from the tournament for the Brave Blossoms. Second row Justin Ives, number 8 Ryukoliniashi Holani, scrum half Tomoki Yoshida and centre Yuta Imamura have all gone home
