CHRISTCHURCH

The Junior Rugby Tournament being held on the weekends in the Fanzone have been extremely popular, providing a fun atmosphere for kids and entertainment for the adults.

Christchurch City Council Marketing Manager Richard Stokes says the kids have been going Rugby mad down at the Fanzone.

"The spirit of Rugby World Cup is definitely rubbing off on these youngsters who are running up and down the mini field during the Junior Rugby Tournament and while the matches are being played."

Organised in conjunction with the Canterbury Rugby Football Union, the Junior Rugby Tournament comprises of over 60 teams from Christchurch schools and Rugby clubs.

The teams are battling it out on the mini Rugby field in the Fanzone's Stadium for the first five weekends of the Tournament from 9am to noon. The games continue this Saturday and Sunday and for the next two weekends as they compete for the Junior Rugby title.
