Taranaki people are being given an opportunity to become part of the story of iconic and internationally renowned Pukeiti gardens.

A volunteer recruitment day next Wednesday (28 September) is aimed at those interested in becoming more involved with the 360 ha rainforest property that features beautifully maintained gardens and a highly regarded rhododendron collection.

The day will run from 10am to 3pm and lunch will be provided. It is essential to register for attendance. Email georgie.williams@trc.govt.nz or call 0800 736 222 and ask for Georgie.

“We’ll show people around Pukeiti, brief them on its history and explain how they can be involved as volunteers,” says the Taranaki Regional Council’s Regional Gardens Manager, Greg Rine.

Pukeiti, along with Tupare and Hollard Gardens, is owned and managed by the Taranaki Regional Council on behalf of the people of the region.

For more information, see www.pukeiti.org.nz, www.tupare.info and www.hollardgardens.info. Social media users can also follow the three Regional Gardens on Facebook (TaranakiRegionalGardens) and Twitter (@TaranakiRG).
