Franklin District Council held a farewell morning tea for its outgoing CEO Phillippa Wilson at the Council Offices today.

Phillippa joined Franklin District Council in 2002, has completed a five year fixed term contract and is now moving on to new opportunities. In her farewell speech Phillippa told staff “the lot of a Local Government CEO is always a difficult one, we are all appointed for a 5 year fixed term, we do the job, form relationships and then find ourselves moving on. I have loved my time in Franklin, it is a great place to live, a great place to work, you are a great team and I will miss you all.”

During her time at Franklin District Council, Phillippa has guided the organisation through some major projects and processes. These include the development and adoption of the Long Term Council Community Plan 2006-2016 and the District Growth Strategy. The successful completion of Franklin: the Centre (the new library, arts and culture centre in Pukekohe), the District Dog Pound and a new Transfer Station. Due to her extensive Local Government experience (particularly in the complex field of local body finance) Phillippa has also left the Council in sound financial shape for the future.

Over the past 2 years Phillippa has also contributed to local government nationally and internationally as President of the New Zealand Society of Local Government Managers. In this role she has attended and contributed to conferences in Australia, the USA and the United Kingdom.
