TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT DURING THE RUGBY MATCH AT McLEAN PARK ON 27th SEPTEMBER 2011

For the rugby match which is to be played on 27TH September 2011 at Mclean Park, Napier, the following traffic management arrangements will apply:

  • Morris Street between Nelson Park and Nelson Crescent will be closed to traffic from 08:00am till approximately 7:30pm on the 27th. Latham Street between Vigor Brown Street and Nelson Crescent as well as McDonald Street between Latham Street and Shamrock Street will be closed to traffic from 12:00 noon till 7:30pm. Only residents and accredited vehicles will be allowed access on presentation of the permit issued. No parking will be allowed along the streets mentioned from 8am on the day and illegally parked vehicles will be towed.
  • Only buses will be allowed to park along both sides of Latham Street between Nelson Crescent and Wellesley Road, along the northern side of Todd Street, and along the western side of Wellesley Road between Todd Street and Latham Street. Parking will be on a first come first served basis on car parks indicated by signs reading “BUSES ONLY”. Buses will be allowed to remain parked for the duration of the game to facilitate pick-up afterwards.
  • When parking, buses will be provided with a number to identify the bus and make it easier for passengers to find the right bus after the match. Drivers must ensure they receive a number and inform their passengers of that number before they disembark . For safety’s sake numbers must be displayed on a window facing the footpath.
  • Taxis will be allowed to pick up and drop off along the eastern side of Vigor Brown Street between Latham Street and Rose Street, as well as along the western side of Nelson Crescent between Morris Street and Latham Street on car parks indicated by signs reading “TAXIS ONLY”.
  • Vehicles with passes for disabled persons will be allowed to park along the eastern side of Vigor Brown Street, along the northern side of McVay Street and along the western side of Nelson Crescent on car parks indicated by signs showing a wheelchair and the word “ONLY”.
  • Private vehicles will not be allowed to drop off passengers or pick up from Latham Street as in the past, but will be required to do so on Nelson Crescent at the intersection with Latham Street and on Vigor Brown Street at the intersection with Latham Street at car parks where signs reading “ NO PARKING” are displayed
  • Campervans with toilet facilities will be allowed to park on public car parks for one overnight stay. This arrangement will also apply along Marine Parade and on the Ellison Street public park where toilet facilities have been provided. Freedom camping cannot be accommodated due to health risks.
  • A speed limit of 30kph will be in force on Georges Drive between Kennedy Road and Chambers Street.
  • All regulations will be strictly enforced by Police and Parking Officials.

  • It is important to note that all advertisements displayed on a bus must conform to the rules laid down by MEMA as any vehicle displaying advertising that conflicts with Rugby World Cup sponsors’ rights, may be required to move from the vicinity of the venue, and the bus company as well as the advertiser may be liable under MEMA.
