New data from SEEK New Zealand reveals high paying job listings are on the rise, with a 30% increase over the past year for jobs listed with a salary of over $100,000 per annum ($100K+).

With the continued growth in this category, SEEK have today launched a dedicated $100K+ section of their jobs website to provide jobseekers a direct route to those top paying roles.

General Manger of SEEK New Zealand, Janet Faulding explains;

“An increase of 30% in the number of jobs advertised with an annual salary of $100,000 or more is significant, and most impressively, the growth is spread across a wide range of industries. As more roles are advertised and more job seekers are searching by salary at $100K and above levels, we wanted to provide a shortcut to these top jobs.”

The latest data reveals that the I.T and Technology industry has the most roles advertised with a salary of $100,000 or more, followed by the Engineering classification and then Accounting.

Top 5 industries with the most jobs advertised paying $100K+

1. I.T. & Technology

2. Engineering

3. Accounting

4. Sales

5. Healthcare & Medical

Auckland has the biggest proportion of high salary roles, more than double any other region. It has also experienced a 25% increase in the number of $100K+ jobs in the past year. However, in Canterbury higher paying jobs have risen 125% since August 2010, reflecting the strong demand for skilled workers in the region. This is consistent with the continued growth in new job ads, particularly in insurance and construction roles.

Wellington’s total number of top jobs grew by a modest 16%, however roles in the Government and Defence sector with $100K+ salaries grew by 98%.

In the last 12 months, there has been a significant number of high paying jobs on offer across the country and the best month for landing one of these roles was in May.

Janet Faulding says;

“May has proven to be a peak month for top job listings, not only was it a top month in 2010, but we noted a 17% increase on last year’s stellar performance.

“It’s great to see $100K+ listings continuing to grow, and we’re confident that the new direct route to these top jobs will prove popular in the executive job market.”
