The House of Waiwera in Parnell, an evolving concept space by Waiwera Water New Zealand Ltd, has moved into its next installation – a retail showroom featuring New Zealand fashion brands.
Everything Black, Waiwera’s first range of New Zealand-crafted clothing and accessories, includes a large range of jewellery, fragrances from Native and furniture by Simon James, and will showcase the best that the nation has to offer under one roof. All for the support of the current theme underlining the nation.
The retail showroom is set to be open until October 21st. Waiwera was aided by Jay Goodey from Once’It, an online shopping website.
“As a brand with strong links to New Zealand heritage, Waiwera wishes to celebrate the aspects that make our culture unique”, says Lucky Smythe, General Manager of Sales and Distribution, Waiwera Water NZ Ltd.
Waiwera is also reinforcing current ties with New Zealand brands such as Trelise Cooper, for which Waiwera is an official water sponsor. Trelise personally handpicked a dress to be displayed in the showroom.
With products from local designers, in the quintessential New Zealand colour palette, there's something to suit all tastes and wardrobes. The brands cater to different style senses and to the local and tourist market.
There is even a taxidermy sculpture from Lisa Black, Departed Vervet V, which is made from a Vervet monkey skull, antique clock/watch parts and mixed metal components.
“Both in New Zealand and abroad, Waiwera Artesian Water is rapidly becoming one of the world's foremost boutique premium bottled waters,” says Sherna Griffiths, Design and Production Manager for Saben.
“So we were excited to get involved with their dynamic concept space, which will stand for the same values. The House of Waiwera conveys an understanding of heritage, an understanding of the New Zealand lifestyles and its undercurrents. This too can be said to be the core values of Saben.”
“We hope to help The House of Waiwera in its mission to convey New Zealand's cultural values to the world.”
The House of Waiwera is an advocate for style, with a minimalist design featuring several modular structures that allow the space to evolve in its many different functional uses.
Overall, the use of materials is organic: untreated timber, neutral colors and natural materials. The key feature of the store is the Arahura River nephrite greenstone pebbles.
These semi-precious stones were given to Waiwera and blessed on their journey from the river. These untreated greenstones are the only material that will travel abroad for other similar Waiwera concept spaces in Tokyo, Los Angeles and Moscow, before being returned to the river.
Although the retail showroom is currently underway in Auckland, The House of Waiwera is a permanent concept space, which will be bringing many more installations to Parnell and other international destinations like Tokyo, Los Angeles and Moscow.
