Rugby fanzone is ready for semifinal action
The Hawke’s Bay Opera House is set to bring all the action from the semifinals and final of Rugby World Cup 2011 to the big screen.
A full house of screaming fans is expected at the Opera House fan zone on Saturday October 15th for the first of the semi’s, while a repeat is expected the next night for the second semi.
Music will be part of each night’s entertainment package, with legendary Hawke’s Bays band, Dusty Rhodes and the Bluesmobile featuring ahead of the first semi. Devils Elbow will kick off the entertainment for the second semifinal while dance band, Tropical Downbeat will lead into the RWC 2011 final on Sunday 23rd October. Doors open at 6.30 pm each night, with live entertainment beginning at 7pm.
The rugby action will be shown on a massive screen set up on the stage of the Opera House theatre and will be accompanied by super sound, which will ensure fans are treated to an experience which will as close as possible to being at the match.
Hastings Mayor Lawrence Yule says” the fanzone will give rugby supporters a real feel for the atmosphere that will be created at Eden Park in Auckland during the semis and final of the Cup. The three matches to be shown live at the Opera House will have great sound and pictures which is sure to have the fans shouting for their favourite team. It will be a great place to watch the final matches of the 2011 World Cup.”
Entry to the fan zone is free but tickets should be obtained in advance from the Hawke’s Bay Opera House Ticketing Office, or the Hastings i-Site to ensure your seat. Tickets are flying out the door so get in quick.
