BLENHEIM

About 130 keen young cyclists turned out for the recent opening of the new gravelled cycleway from Blenheim to Riverlands funded by the District Council.

Mayor Alistair Sowman and Duncan MacKenzie from Go Marlborough welcomed the cyclists before they set off along the 1.7 km cycleway.

Built along the rail corridor and well away from the State Highway One traffic, the cycleway creates a safe pathway for children cycling to Riverlands School.

At the end of the ride, children were encouraged to test their cycling skills at Riverlands School before a BBQ lunch.
