Canon has launched to the New Zealand market the award winning 44-inch imagePROGRAF iPF8300S.

Equipped with an 8-Color LUCIA EX ink set, 160GB hard drive, built-in calibration and 44" borderless printing, the iPF8300S is an excellent solution for portraits, advertisements, retail signage and contract proofs. As well as receiving stellar reviews internationally, the iPF8300S has recently been awarded the Outstanding Colour Inkjet Wide-Format Production Photo Printer accolade by Buyer’s Laboratory Inc (BLI) in their Summer 2011 awards.

Canon Product Manager – Large Format and Paper, Jacob Palathingal says the iPF8300S fills an important role in the New Zealand print market.

“The addition of the iPF8300S to the portfolio broadens an already impressive Canon offering to the graphics arts, photo and production markets by setting a new standard for the category and providing an optimal balance of high productivity and exceptional print quality,” he says.

“We expect the product to be a real hit with New Zealand’s print professionals who place great value on bringing the very best out of their prints.”

The iPF8300S is ideal for those who need quality large format output and maximum productivity. The iPF8300S runs up to 40% faster than the 12-Color imagePROGRAF line, producing a B0-sized (39.37" x 55.67") output in approximately 80 seconds. New Fast and Economy print modes also help to enhance overall productivity further and can also reduce ink consumption by approximately 50 percent.

Canon has doubled the hard drive capacity of the iPF8300S compared to earlier imagePROGRAF models, with all new S series models now boasting an impressive 160 GB. This allows printers to save and reprint jobs at any time with or without a computer.

The iPF8300S uses Canon's newly formulated 8-Color LUCIA EX ink set to increase the achievable color gamut by approximately 20% more than previous imagePROGRAF 8-Color printers and gives smoother colour gradations, improved scratch resistance and minimised color shifts. With 700ml ink tanks and a unique sub-ink tank system for replacing ink on-the-fly without stopping the printer, this latest addition to the imagePROGRAF family is perfect for those with high output needs.

The iPF8300S large format printer has been designed with the workflow of professionals in mind. Raster Image Processors (RIPs) from a variety of developers are supported for print proofing, design, commercial photographic printing and other applications. In addition, new printers can be introduced without altering the existing workflows with familiar RIPS. Verified RIP developers include CGS, EFI, GMG, ONYX, SAi and Wasatch.

The inclusion of a print Plug-In for Adobe Photoshop provides further support for the proofing, photo and 64-bit printing environment When edited in Photoshop, 16-bit Adobe RGB images can be processed directly to the machines, preserving the images wide gamut and smooth gradation. There is also a print plug-in provided for Digital Photo Professional allowing for direct printing of high-quality RAW images helping to preserve overall image quality.

The iPF8300S will be available in New Zealand from October with a Recommended Retail Price of $11,995 +GST.
