WELLINGTON CITY

Promotions for summer getaways in the coolest little capital in the world are heating up with the return of Positively Wellington Tourism’s successful 3 Nights for Two campaign.

From today until Sunday 6 November, visitors will be able to book three nights but only pay for two at their choice of 19 of the city’s hotels for stays from 12 December until the end of January.

Positively Wellington Tourism General Manager Marketing Sarah Meikle says the winter 3 Nights for Two campaign – designed to increase visitation in the quiet May to July period – drove record bookings on WellingtonNZ.com and contributed to record winter hotel nights in the capital.

“The uptake over winter was phenomenal so we’re bringing the concept back for a summer hit. December and January are traditionally fairly quiet in Wellington, so we’re using 3 for Two to woo visitors for a spot of Christmas shopping or to celebrate the New Year in style.”

The 3 for Two offer has been extended to incorporate a range of attractions, retailers, bars and restaurants. In total over 40 businesses are involved, including 19 hotels, 4 major attractions, 14 retailers and 7 eateries/bars.

“The range of 3 for Two themed deals on offer covers everything from coffees and tasting plates to breakfasts and desserts. Rides, attractions, beauty treatments and clothing deals are also available,” Ms Meikle says.

Kirkcaldies & Stains was one of the first businesses to sign up, with a range of deals to be on offer through the iconic department store.

“This is a great initiative that connects a range of businesses that all benefit from the visitor sector,” says Managing Director John Milford. “It’s a fantastic way to profile what Wellington’s got to offer, the style in which we do things together and of course boost business over a quiet time of the year.”

The 3 for Two deals are valid for stays and purchases between Monday 12 December and Tuesday 31 January – perfect for Christmas shopping excursions or celebrating the New Year in style. The majority of the stay period also coincides with the blockbuster Unveiled: 200 Years of Wedding Fashion from the V & A exhibition, which opens at Te Papa on December 17.
