PALMERSTON NORTH

Free Wireless Internet will be available in all Palmerston North libraries from 10 November 2011 including the Central library and all library branches: Ashhurst, Awapuni, Roslyn, Te Pātikitiki, and at the Youth Space in Coleman Mall.

Wi-Fi will be available during library opening hours, 7 days a week at Central, Monday to Saturday at branches, and Tuesday to Sunday at the Youth Space.

To use Wi-Fi at the library bring your laptop, smart phone, iPad or tablet PC next time you visit your local library. Fast broadband access with generous daily data caps will be available and library staff will be on hand to help.

Wi-Fi is a way of connecting to the Internet without plugging your computer into a phone line or network port on the wall. It’s wireless because instead of connecting with cables it transmits data using radio waves. And it’s free of charge every day, whether you use it a lot or just a little.

The Internet is a great source of information for learning, entertainment, exploration of new ideas and inspiration. It’s great for accessing important services like online research resources, job hunting, online banking, shopping or paying your rates online.

Library users will soon be able to download free e-books and digital audio books using the free Wi-Fi service.

Free Wi-Fi is brought to you by Aotearoa People’s Network Kaharoa (APNK) and Palmerston North City Library and Community Services.
